So, season 7 of one of my favourite TV shows is in the books.  However, I’m on the fence about this season.  There were too many filler episodes and focusing too much on Marshall and Lilly and even how evolved Barney has become.  I also didn’t like the fact that the played with the Ted and Robin storyline again.  And the predictable last shot of the season finale was so anti-climatic that wasn’t funny.  Don’t get me wrong — there were some more great moments in this season, especially with the new addition.  I am really hoping the writers get back on track in season 8 and make it their last season and the end it with the reveal of the mother.  Honestly, as much as I love this show, it has been dragged out way too long and needs to come back stronger and more focused in what should be its last season.

I just finished watching season 6 on DVD.  This show will always be one of my favourites.  Yes, it seems to being stretching out the story for the sake of it, but it is still one of the best shows on TV right now.  The cast, the characters, the storylines, the dialogue and the humour are all awesome.  That being said, I really hope they end it on their own terms in the eighth season next year.

It starts tonight! I am eager to see how this season plays out after last season went up and down.  I’m really hoping it gets brought back to the greatness of the earlier seasons.  I also hope that they end things in season 8 with the discovery of the mother as the final episode.

I just might have to pick up this month’s Maxim.  Cobie Smulders has always been a fan favourite of mine.  I mean she’s funny, incredibly beautiful and CANADIAN! But this is just beyond awesome.  The cover made my day and the other pictures are just as sexy.  Cobie just moved up on my list of favourite actresses.

The Playbook Review I wasn’t planning on buying this book about every scam, con, hustle, hoodwink, gambit, flim-flam, stratagem, and bamboozle that Barney Stinson has used to pick up chicks.  But I finally caved and picked it up and I am glad I did.  It’s over the top in typical Barney fashion and has many “plays” that have been used in the show.  You can’t take this book seriously because it is not meant to be a serious book.  That being said, it would be cool to actually try some of these “plays” to see if they are even somewhat plausible.  There’s not much to the book; it is set up similar to the Bro Code where each “play” is either one or two pages.  It is quick and easy to read and could be a great reference (if you need to study the “plays”).  This book will have you laughing throughout, while shaking your head in disbelief and wondering if certain “plays” just might work for you if you had the courage/confidence to pull off one of these outrageous schemes.  Rating: 9/10

Top 5 Reasons Why How I Met Your Mother is the #1 Show on TV Honourable mentions: Ted Mosby – Although he sometimes comes across as a whiny loser, the man character does have his moments and delivers some memorable lines and scenes. Guest Stars – It seems like every celebrity who can think of has had a guest spot on the show.  The show is starting to compete with Entourage for who can have the most celebrities on a show.   Almost all of the guest stars have been solid and added some nice flavour to the show.  #5 Older TedThe voice of older Ted is that of the legendary Bob Saget.  He is perfect as the narrator telling his poor kids the long version of how he met their mother.  Saget should continue with the voice-overs since he has a great narrator voice. #4 Marshal and LilyA.K.A. Season 5 doesn’t come out until September 21st, which seems like an eternity, so until then I will just have to keep watching old episodes from seasons 1 to 4.  Now, that Lost is off the air, this show has moved into my number one spot for best show current on TV.  Here’s hoping season 6 is just as great as the first 5 seasons and that they don’t find out who the mother is until the end of the series, which should probably be at the end of season 7.
