The best tourism video I have ever seen…then again I am pretty biased having moved to Alberta two years ago.
Canada’s East-West economic divide deepens - The Globe and Mail
Good news for the local economy!

This is why I moved to Alberta. The economy is so much stronger out here compared to Ontario where I was struggling to find work. I constantly tell my friends and family to go west!

I am going to do something that I haven’t done in a long time: talk politics. Mainly provincial politics. The only reason why I am doing this is because the political landscape in Alberta has been shaken up quite a bit lately and it doesn’t look like it is going to be smooth sailing for any party or MLA. When the premier announces he is stepping down, you know that things aren’t going smoothly for the governing party. Add the fact that there has now been 4 MLA cross the floor to different parties and with Dave Taylor joining the Alberta Party, there are 5 different parties sitting in the Legislative Assembly. Definitely an interesting time in Alberta politics. This is the same province that has had a Conservative government since 1971 and overwhelming votes for them every election. It will be interesting to see where Independent/ex-Conservative Dr. Raj Sherman ends up (it looks like he’s going to the Liberals). I’m pretty excited to see what happens and I’m glad that I moved to this province just as this political shift is about to happen. Now, who knows when the election is going to be since the PCs will have run a leadership race to find someone to replace Stelmach. Definitely a great time to be a political observer in Alberta.
This video has been the soundtrack for my life during the past week.
In about 12 hours, I will be getting on a plane and flying out west for a new job with the Government of Canada. Here are some pictures of the city that I’ll be calling home for at least the next 6 months. Should be a great time.
